An end to an incredible year.Called 2006. It would be an understatement to say that 2006 has been most eventful. It would be also an understatement to state that 2006 has been unbelievable. For 2006 defies words. It has been eventful, unbelievable, incredible, and more.
And since this is the last day of the year, i have a sudden impulse to write an entry [in typically lousy minhao style] here, with the very people who have been so indispensible in my life for these 2 years.
Looking through the pictures we took during various functions, beginning with orientation and ending with senior promenade, I cannot help but notice the metamorphorsis of large sections of the class, particularly from index number 1 to index number 25. I also cannot help but smile uncontrollably at how horrible index number 26 looked 2 years ago. [that is to say of course, that looks wise now index number 26 is the very antithesis of yesterday]
Indeed, time changes.
But memories do not.
Term 1 2006:
The first week saw us taking the class bench all to ourselves. The first day saw lessons commencing. I can distinctly remember Mr Lee coming to class [in B block] with his red rectangular basin. He must have been rubbing his hands together for 90% of the time. I remember him saying something about 'trying to finish as many tutorial questions as possible'. He was so earnest! haha
Thereafter throughout the term, we met the jnrs, CNY outing, STJ, angel mortal etc...
Term 2:
Started with a wretched bt. Somehow i dont really remember lots about the term, it was sort of a transition from CCAs/other distractions to a study-study-study mode.
I never had that much work to do for a June holiday. Term 3 began with another round of tiring block tests. Thereafter Mr loy showed us a timetable of the remaining days ‘we have together’. It was a stark reminded that the progress of time is indeed, unceasingly
Term 3 –BT2, prep for prelims, consultation sessions, lessons rapidly draws to a close, PAP, some outings etc…..
Term 4 – STUDIES STUDIES…, different consultation sessions with Mr Loy, Mrs Goh, Mr Yap and Mr Lee Trying to seek help from Mdm madihah etc. prelims then A levels à complaining, cursing, swearing, but ultimately persisting
Post As – SLACKING ROTTING RELAXING SHOPPING WATCHING MOVIES
PROM NIGHT…
Time has really passed in a flash. That’s it. The literal happenings in a few lines. The intangibles; the opportunities to know ppl better, to build bridges, maintain matured bridges etc once again defies words.
I can only repeat a cliché line. That if given the opportunity, I would gladly sacrifice another year just to re-live the times once again.
2007 will be an entirely different kind of experience - one of those years when academia will not feature as prominently. I hope to maintain bridges even as our paths diverge from here on.
Min Hao wishes his classmates all the best. May you all have a blessed year ahead. Will the year fade into memory? Will the year become a mere statistic?
Will it be just a 2006?
The future is in our hands.
