hmmm today i realised tt 3 is a lucky number. here's some statistics to prove it.
3 consecutive days.
3 consecutive finals (volleyball girls, netball and bball guys)
3 finals held at toa payoh sports hall.
3 championships for hc. =)
the no. 13 won the mvp award for the bball guys final.
3rd time lucky for the bball team, after 2 consecutive runners-up placings.
and errrr... 3 is the no. of times a hc player bounces a ball b4 he sinks a free throw? LOL =)
right today's bball finals match! i felt tt we played rather well, especially at crucial moments of the match. technically i felt we were nt as gd as aj, sporting several national players as ive heard. but we played well defensively, to deny them time and again, especially in the crucial moments in the 4th quarter. their 4th quarter display helped them put the match beyond aj. their team work was superb, playing with area defence to perfection as the hc players crowded around the basket when an aj player was driving for a lay-up. they also double or triple teamed key players to stress them out, to force wild shots. they also did well to grab rebounds allow hc to drive forward with their strength - speedy counterattacks. such was the quality of the counterattacks tt it usually ended up with 1-1, 2-1 or even 3-1 situations. kudos to them. we led for most of the match, with aj managing to claw their way back somewhere in the 2nd and 3rd quarter to draw lvl and even take the lead. tho their lead was 4 points at most, we quickly managed to bring them back on lvl terms. an awesome moment was during the last min of the 3rd quarter, when we were on the attack, with the clock having less than 10 secs. the aj players were thinking it was over for the quarter but NO. after swatting a shot out to the parameter, a hc player kept it in play and swiftly turned and shot from the 3 point range, unopposed. and it actually beat the buzzer! woo hoo! helped establish a 3rd quarter lead of 29-27. in the 4th quarter, our defence help VERY well, limiting aj to wild long range jumpers or long shots that we quickly managed to collect and launch swift counters. this strategy proved instrumental in the remaining points scored in the game for hc. ultimately we took them down 44-35! wooo hoo! 3rd time lucky for the hc guys bball team, with them playing "bestmen" for 2 yrs since their last championship. =) so happy for them. =)
